Today is International Day of Peace. Traditionally, Escuela students gather together on the Elementary lawn to sing “Light a Candle for Peace” in honor of the International Day of Peace.
While we are not gathering in large groups quite yet, we want to share the tradition of raising our voices together to honor the spirit of singing for peace as a community. Mr. Casey has been teaching each class “Light a Candle for Peace” so that students may bring the song home and share it with you as an at-home sing-along.
A candle, for your family to light, will be sent home with your students this afternoon, and a sheet with lyrics (and much of the information provided here) to help guide your family through a “separate, but together” community sing-along in celebration of peace.
Join us in lighting a candle this evening and singing with your family and, honorarily, with the Escuela community. Use the video below to sing along with the accompaniment created by Mr. Casey.
