We’ve recently begun lessons on linear perspective in our remote art room! Students have started learning about Horizon Lines, Vanishing Points and even Orthagonals. For our first experiments in drawing with linear perspective students drew a road, a river or train tracks disappearing out into the distance in front of them. I encouraged students to imagine what kind of plants, animals, and colors they saw in the world in front of them!
After thinking about lines stretching off to the horizon we came indoors and tried our hand at drawing a room using one-point linear perspective. Students were encouraged to draw the room they’re in all the time these day, or one they’d like to be in, or to invent a room completely of their own liking—while beginning to incorporate the illusion of three dimensional space into their drawings!
