In the continuing saga of transferring over to Google, calendar migration from “Office” to Escuela’s Google Calendar begins this Thursday. For most of you, the shift from the old calendar to the new one isn’t much you’ll need to pay attention to as the “Office” calendar is mostly utilized by office staff. However, we would like to make sure everyone has access to each others work calendars moving forward. So, here’s what to expect during this process and what John will need you to handle:
What to expect:
- The old “Office” calendar that many of us are all familiar with is going away. Instead, everyone will use their built-in Google calendar.
- On Thursday/Friday, do not modify any events in your “Office” calendar.
- John will import your old calendar into your Google account and share that calendar with everyone
- In some cases, John may not able to, and he will contact you directly to resolve this.
- You can access your calendar through https://calendar.google.com or you can add it to your computer/phone.
- You will receive quite a few calendar invitations from everyone, including the school calendars. You’ll need to add these calendars to your calendar.
- There will most likely be additional calendar invites over the course of the week, so keep an eye out for these emails.
- John will be at the school on Friday to help with the migration.
What you’ll need to do:
- Add all the calendars calendar to your Google calendar
- You’ll receive (a lot of) emails with the subject: [someone’s name]@edelsol.org. Open the email and at the bottom, click on the link “Add this calendar”.
- Some folks’ calendars will need to be manually imported by John and he will email you if this is the case. Be sure to meet with him on Friday at school.
- If you need help removing your old “Office” calendar and/or help with adding it to your computer, be sure to coordinate with John on Friday.
