Hard work is child’s play

Steps If Your Child is Ill

Thank you to everyone in our community for being cautious and helping us maintain the health of the Escuela family. Below is a summary of the steps that should be taken if your child becomes ill:

1. Email the Office to notify us that your student is unwell. You may also include your student’s teacher, but make sure absence reports are sent to the Office. When possible, please provide us with the general symptoms your child is experiencing for our illness tracking.

2. Consult your child’s doctor or another licensed healthcare provider for guidance and next steps. If your child has siblings that attend Escuela, please mention this to the healthcare provider and ask if your sick child’s siblings can return to school. If you are advised to keep siblings home as well, please alert the office.

3. Before any student can return, a licensed health care professional will need to provide a written OK for your child to return to school. The Dr. may or may not request a Covid test. In any case, a negative Covid test alone is not sufficient for a student to return to class – we must have a doctor’s note. Authorization to return can be faxed directly from your healthcare provider to Escuela at (800) 317-4752, or you may email the office

If your child becomes ill and is sent home during the day, a doctor’s note is required for them to return. Follow steps 2 and 3.

Thank you all again for erring on the side of caution and keeping your children home when they’re not feeling their best.

Please help us keep accurate attendance records by also calling or emailing the office if your child will be absent for any non-illness reason.
