Hard work is child’s play

School Health Update

Dear Escuela Families,

Colorado, here we come!  Now that this neighboring state is on the “safe to travel to” list, it looks like a good get-away. Let’s remember our team effort, though… stay safe!

Here on campus, we’ve settled wonderfully into the new routines. Kids are happy, learning a lot, making new friends, reconnecting with the old… It’s wonderful to see. I want to commend our staff and ask you to join me in sending tons of gratitude (virtual, vibrationally, good thoughts) because they are working long days with positive attitudes, careful attention to all the children and all our Covid-mitigation processes. They are amazing!

As parents we all realize that children are susceptible to a myriad of illnesses with fever-inducing symptoms.  We have had a small number of children who presented with minor ailments and/or low fevers at home and school (ear infections, post-immunization temperature elevation, etc.).  When parents were called to pick up at school, the response was immediate; we appreciate that. Some of our kids have gotten Covid tests; all have been negative. Escuela keeps a confidential log of everyone who has been sent home, and of test results and doctor’s notes.

If any Covid symptoms present at home or at school, the procedure will be:

  • We will ask you to consult your child’s pediatrician or licensed health care provider and follow their advice for next steps.
  • Before any student can return, a licensed health care professional will need to provide a written OK for your child to return to school.

With your support and collaboration, and good parent–school communication I am confident that we can continue to keep our community healthy and safe.

As noted, the Governor has reduced some of the travel and other restrictions. From my personal perspective, and on behalf of our school, I ask that you all consider using an abundance of caution, going out only when needed and using all possible precautions when you do go out. Whether it’s camping, traveling or eating out: wear masks and wash those hands!

This link to the Governor’s press release offers more detailed information, and this handy map identifies “low risk” and “high risk” states.

Have a great long weekend, have fun … get outdoors!

Always grateful for your collaboration – we are doing a great job as a community!
