Dear Escuela Families-
Did you feel that chill this morning? Actually, it was a balmy 50-ish, but just knowing the cold is coming makes me shiver! So I’m out there doing the morning screening, wearing my winter jacket and scarf, and kids are piling out of cars wearing shorts and t-shirts! I guess the ol’ metabolism changes as we get a bit older….
If my weather app is correct, next week promises to bring some early winter weather. I want to remind you (so you can remind your kids) that no matter the temperature, we are committed to keeping viruses at bay. This means that doors and windows will remain open for good strong cross-ventilation. We can and will turn on the heat, but it’s going to be cold in the classrooms.
And…. lunch and snacks will continue to be eaten outdoors unless it’s REALLY pouring or hailing; yep, I’m being hard about this! We are collectively bent on keeping us all healthy and safe. Cold, maybe, but healthy!
You will see, in this week’s e-news, the school’s new, updated inclement weather policies and procedures. Please pay close attention, read that weekly newsletter. Note that if classes are cancelled, that includes our students participating in the home-learning workshops.
As most of you know, we’ve had both students and teachers out with colds and other mild symptoms. It’s incredibly inconvenient and causes its own headaches, but we are also sticking strictly to our “must have a Doctor’s note” policy in order to ensure continued general good health. If your child is ill, please first consult their doctor. A doctor’s note is required for your student to return to school. A Covid test is only required upon the recommendation of their doctor. Thank you to all of you who have had to endure the wait for Covid testing results and the visits (tele-med and/or in person) to physician’s offices. Be assured that there has not been one single positive Covid test among our immediate community of students, families and teachers. We are really very grateful for your continued support, collaboration and patience!
Gratefully Yours,
Friedje vanGils
