We are pleased to introduce the newest member of our teaching team, Ms. Nicole Duran. Ms. Nicole will be lead guide in the Primary Yellow Room with Ms. Shardae LeDouix, who will be returning to Escuela as the Yellow Room assistant guide.
Ms. Nicole is an Albuquerque native who will be returning home after living in North Carolina for the last 17 years. She has her American Montessori Society Early Childhood Certification and has been teaching children ages 3-6 for the last 20 years. About her passion for Montessori and children, she said, “I truly enjoy my profession and am continually inspired by them.”
Ms. Nicole also has certification in Positive Discipline, and she is also certified in the Orton-Gillingham Reading Program. According to the Orton-Gillingham Academy, “The Orton-Gillingham Approach is a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling does not come easily to individuals, such as those with dyslexia.”
Ms. Nicole is thrilled to be returning to her hometown with her husband and three children. Her youngest will be joining Sr. Elementary. Ms. Nicole looks forward to being part of the Escuela community and meeting everyone!
