Outdoor education has always been an integral part of Escuela’s program. Students can safely stretch beyond their comfort zones, build self-reliance and resilience, strengthen community, and practice teamwork. Adventures, community bonds, and shared experiences from Treks stay with children long after they head off to high school. Alumni frequently share Trek memories as some of the most poignant and enjoyable. For most of our youngest students, Spring Trek is their first overnight away from home. They may be nervous – you may be nervous too. The opportunity to stretch beyond comfort in a safe and nurturing setting is invaluable and EXCITING! They will come home taller with more self-confidence!
As it feels like ages since we last trekked to Base Camp, we will offer a Zoom meeting for parents on Tuesday, April 12, at 4 p.m. The Gulch’s Director of Education, Naina Panthaki, who is also an Escuela alum, will join us. Bring your questions and desire to learn more!
