Escuela's teachers combine excellent training, strong academic qualifications and experience with warmth, openness, and a strong respect for children and their parents. Our teachers have their Montessori training through either the American Montessori Society (AMS) or the Association Montessori International (AMI).
James Duran co-coaches the Elementary PE program with Penny Hicks and runs the Primary PE program on Monday mornings. Born and raised in Albuquerque, he has been an air traffic controller for nearly 30 years, as well as a long-time soccer coach, including 7 seasons at Manzano HS (boys) and Valley HS (girls). He and his wife Denise have two children who are in their fifth year as students at Escuela.
