Escuela's teachers combine excellent training, strong academic qualifications and experience with warmth, openness, and a strong respect for children and their parents. Our lead teachers have their Montessori training through either the American Montessori Society (AMS) or the Association Montessori International (AMI).
Jr. Elementary East
Inga Tomlinson found Montessori education in Seattle, Washington years ago. This lead her to pursue her AMI Elementary certification at the Washington Montessori Institute in Columbia, Maryland as well as her Master’s in Education from Loyola University in Baltimore. She made the move to Albuquerque and started her Escuela adventure in 2004. Ms. Inga’s commitment to Montessori has evolved through rich experiences in many roles at Escuela. She has guided children at the both the Junior and Senior Elementary levels, is the Elementary Program Coordinator, and enjoys facilitating faculty collaboration for growth in our program. Ms. Inga spent two years in administration, while her daughter was very young, developing programs such as parent education and working heavily in admissions. Recently, she led the school-wide effort to become the first school in New Mexico to be awarded accreditation by the American Montessori Society. She is also the faculty liaison to Escuela’s Board of Directors.
Ms. Inga and her husband have two lovely Montessori children. Connor graduated from Escuela in 2009 and Helene started in the Toddler Program in 2012.
“Montessori education is an effort that reaches far beyond education. On a large scale, it is a movement towards world peace. There is no other way I could imagine spending my time. I am blessed to be a part of the Escuela family and this worthy endeavor of raising deeply empathetic and innovative children.”
