Escuela del Sol was founded by a group of parents in 1968. The strong sense of community formed then persists today. We are a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of parents, members of the community at large and staff representatives. Together with our art center, the school has a wonderful reputation for excellence, inclusion and diversity. Through our outreach programs and service learning, and with the support and participation of school parents, Escuela del Sol is active in the community and partners with organizations such as Health Care for the Homeless and Wild Earth Guardians.

Parent involvement in our school is key to our success. We offer workshops throughout the year to support your understanding of our curriculum and approach - check out this year's schedule on the Workshops page. Our parent organization, the Escuela Community Organization or ECO, is another great way to get involved - we look forward to your participation.
