Ages 18 mos. - 3 yrs.: The Toddler Community is an excellent start to a Montessori education.
Many years of experience along with the appropriate education and training enables our Toddler Guides to provide a safe, supportive environment designed to meet our youngest students' needs. Admissions procedure is as follows:
• Your second visit to the school includes your child. You will visit in one of the Toddler classrooms for 15 – 30 minutes. At this time, a Toddler Guide or administrator will help you assess your child’s readiness for this program.
Ages 3 - 6 (child must be 3 by Sept. 1): The optimal time to enter the Primary Program is at 3 years of age. Children remain in Primary through age six, or until they are ready to enter the Escuela del Sol Elementary. Preference for admissions is given to children who come from our Toddler program, to those whose families make a commitment through Elementary, to siblings of current students and to students with previous Montessori experience.
Elementary School (child must be 6 by Sept. 1): Applicants for admissions to the Elementary school are considered on an individual basis. Students from Escuela's Primary program apply before enrollment is opened to the public (please see re-enrollment for current Escuela students). Preference for admissions is given to those whose families make a commitment through the whole Elementary program, to siblings of current students and to students with previous Montessori experience. Elementary School enrollment requires:
• Previous school records
• A teacher recommendation
• Any available evaluations / screenings
• A parent observation with enrollment interview
• A visit from the student. When the student visits, he or she must spend at least a half day, but is welcome to stay the entire school day.
